Joy and I saw the Lewis and Clark tour off yesterday. We aren't on it but helped with some planning and the logo. It's mostly 50s thru 90s cars and more miles than we can go. However, it was good to see old friends. Many have Ts and other brass cars also. I thought I would show some here. I'd love to have a 40 Coupe but it's one car Joy isn't attracted to. I didn't recognize this 1994 Benzillac 320SL nor some of the other makes. He was having fun with it.

I remember when your '30 model A was too new for consideration.
I understand the VMCCA changed the status of "veteran" from 35 years old to 25 (?) some years back.

I wish them well on their tour, hoping the hurricane weather doesn't disrupt the fun as it moves on. They will see some beautiful country.

I was recently intrigued by the organization due to exposure to an old magazine. Not much interest now. That just saved me my one and only year's dues. Looks like if you want to lose some weight, just drive a T on their tours, get to lunch last every time and enjoy what little is left of the buffet!

(in my opinion) what a shame.

Just some observations from the tail wagging the dog now. Most of our most active members have only been in the hobby and club for a dozen years. They bring valuable ideas and experience to the game but can't appreciate how the clubs were 50 and 60 years ago. I remember the valiant old timers complaining about new ideas with hands raised like they were going down for the third time. They were wonderful mentors but now mostly forgotten. Our clubs would not have survived without the changes to later cars and even modified ones, so it's nice to have a semblance of the club at all. Joy leads much of our activity and I don't always agree with her, but events always turn out nicely. There are plenty of activities we can do and make it doable for the older cars.
I'm so lucky to have enjoyed the changing phases over the many years and all the fantastic people involved.
So it goes with so many institutions like Bill Harrah's collection, many local swap meets and so on.
Stay positive and cheer the others on.
