Nice article Jerry. Thanks for sharing.
The most notable as was pointed out in the MSN piece is the 5 main bearings and pressurized crank. Below is a quote from from the Burtz block site.
"
The interior is similar to a modern engine with 5 replaceable main and camshaft bearings, 16 pressure lubricated bearings, 2-inch diameter main bearings, large, streamlined intake ports, hard exhaust valve seats, and an off-the-shelf radial lip rear main seal."
I have been following this development on the Model A forums since it was in the design phase. There are several hundred Burtz engines now in service with satisfied owners.
From the exterior, the block looks original and original auxiliaries such as manifolds, water pump etc. can be utilized.

Imagine the same available for model T engines.
Could it be possible? Big enough market? T owners willing to "step up"?
The cost is really reasonable.

I'd love to have a Burtz engine in a 1930 A roadster. A similarly enhanced T engine would be wonderful.

Some are, but the vast majority "no"

The Burtz Model A engines are affordable due to being cast and machined overseas. Burtz documents his struggles trying to produce these domestically and he truly put forth a solid effort. His contribution to this hobby is fantastic!
Les Schubert has made a similar effort on a 5 main T engine. Not produced in volume, but a fantastic effort none the less!
