BYE..., And I do mean BYE!

Censorship on my thread as it was informative and surfaced other issues of control by government just proves the same people running government are in this club. COUNT ME OUT, KEEP YOUR DAMN LIFETIME DUES, AND PISS OFF!
I HOPE YOU BAND ME! The death of the hobby is near, and the MTFCA is the Grim Reaper!
TAKE MY ASS OFF OF YOUR MAILING LIST TOO! NO MORE DONATIONS! NO NOTHING!

Been following the 'Wake Up Call' thread, didn't add anything, however..... Just checked and that thread by Hank, with all comments, was moved to OT forum section, OT Off Topic, other than Model T.
That seems ok, it is still up and comments can be made. Just added my comments a minute ago.

While the Model T is classic American so is freedom of speech. I am glad the topic has been allowed to live on in the off topic section.
in order to have a community there needs to be communication.
I will miss you postings here Hank, and hope you re-consider again, I hope you spend your free time polishing you guns more than polishing all your brass.

After 5339 posts, I wonder what you will do with your time. Like before, I donât think you will be able to stay away. I recall that on August 09, 2022 you said âByeâ, only to come back. We hate to see you go even temporarily, but old habits are hard to break, so, just like before, you will be welcomed back with open arms until the next time someone makes you mad and you say âByeâ. You have a lot to say and we enjoy reading what you say, but there are rules âAdminJeffâ must enforce and we must all follow and you are not only hurting yourself by doing this, you are hurting us by depriving us of your Model T experience and wisdom, so swallow your anger and come on back. On this one, you are wrong and you know it. Leaving wonât make the rule go away. If, this time you stay away, we will miss you.

Yup, I was the one who moved it, just like I'm moving this topic. We have different sections on this forum for different Model T topics. If it's not related to the Model T, go ahead, rant all you want. But, by definition, rants that have ZERO to do with Model T's are Off Topic.
So Hank, as admins, we aren't censoring anything, go ahead and look. All the words you typed are still there for anyone who cares to look. but out of respect for folks who only want to see Model T related stuff in the Model T forum, we move stuff all the time to where it belongs, which is right here in off-topic.

I figured this and the other thread would need to be moved to here, where it frankly does belong.
Hank! If you are out there, please don't leave. Personally, I expected the other thread would be moved, and thankfully, it was. What you said, needed to be said. It is still here, and can still be read by anyone that feels the need to read it whether they agree with it or not.
I have said it for way over twenty years now. "Politics" is a major part of our model T hobby! Their future existence is wholly dependent upon the politics of today. As long s we can remain somewhat respectful, and not fall into the trap of name-calling or worse. However, it really should be here in the OT zone. Not the main "Model T" discussion area where some people only want to see things directly about model Ts.

I wouldnât beg Henry to come back. Heâll be back in the spring when he wants to sell more overpriced stuff. Then heâll threaten to scrap it when no one wants it. Itâs a cycle.

Shucks guys.
Be kind.
There's enough bitterness in this world without it living on this Forum.
Everyone...really, EVERYONE has some good qualities. Personally, I have never met anyone that hasn't taught me something. All the posters on this thread included. ....(although I will admit that these "meetings" have been via the magic of the ethernet).

I'd be happy to see Henry Lee return. (And he offers some very nice stuff, which no one is obliged to buy against their wishes)

Reminds me of the song ol Johnny cash used to sing,"boy named sue"

The post " Wake Up Call on How Times Are Changing Has no mention of model T's in it. So it qualifies for off topic no question. Jeff Thank you for moving it. Hank I have all the respect in the world for your talent, workmanship & knowledge. I have only had great experiences dealing with you! But getting butt hurt over this is very disapointing. So go to the top drawer, get out a pair of big boy pants put them on & deal with it. I would like to appoligize for helping push this off the rails. I somtimes forget that discretion is the better part of valor. And that it is best to keep ones mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all dought.

Jeez whiz, what a bunch of sour grapes...
What just happened, however, is partially WHY I can't stand people interjecting polits and political views into a non=political site such as this.
Because people (to quote my MIL) are just too sensitive, and get offended REALLY easily over butkis. HAve a life member post something not T related, the post gets moved to OT, and he storms off in a (pardon me) hissy fit, kicking over the sand castle, picking up his legos and telling the club (of which I've been a part of since, oh God, fifty-four years? I just found one of my original Gazette covers, and well... Can it really be???) that it can throw allits magnets through the original square inspection plate hogshead... and threw some really stinging words in the fray as he slammed the door.
Anyway, hopefully Hank will calm down and come back. He was a great addition to the family, and shared a LOT of good info... I guess time will tell. If not, well... I'm too damned old to worry about it. I'm not going anywhere soon (good lord willing and the crick dun't rise) and contrary to one mans opinion, it looks like the hobby is going strong... Just look at the recent want ad sales...
OK, enough from me... I have a shop to go help build!

It is so easy to leave the thread and next time don't open it. Others enjoy this discussion, but to drop out of the club and the forum just over other's political views is silly.

I too hope Hank comes back! He is very knowledgeable and one who's advice I greatly admire (I am talking about how work should be done, things made, or repaired!).
Susanne! You can't be old! When I first met you, you were still a kid at Calistoga!

The 1/2 mile dirt oval... God, what memories! I think that's what gave me the speedster bug...

Actually Susanne, the Calistoga track was said to be just over a half mile. They routinely ran modern sprint car races there. At that time, the modern sprint car record for a lap was 27 seconds (later lowered down to 26 1/2 seconds). Vic Sala and Ed Archer were running the lap in about 32 seconds! Which by the way, was within the normal standard speeds for the modern sprint cars, some of who's best times were around 35 seconds (these were big modern hopped up V8s!). Mine was the slowest car there, my best time was if I recall correctly 45 seconds.
It really was a lot of fun!

32 second laps @ Calistoga is somewere in the neighbor hood of 56.25mph which I would guess to be close to 70mph on the straight away.
Pretty impressive for a model T that is driven on the srteets. Modern sprint car times are in the sub 16 second times. Only about twice as
fast as a 100 year old model T

Go Vic & Ed!
Craig.

Fixed it, must have been asleep when I typed that!
Yeah, #4 & #8 are real contenders, as were their owners... Of course, we all know that "the yellow jacket" still roars down the road (with a flash of a smile and a handlebar moustache!), but I always wondered what happened to #8... When I took the gas tank from the 15 to be dipped (a number of years ago) I met (I'm assuming) the grandson or nephew of Vic Sala... Shared some good memories.
Speaking of... I was going through some old papers the other day, and what would pop up but a 1969 cover of a certain Vintage Ford, sporting a certain moustachioed guy with his family and the famous Dreyers Ice Cream truck... There was also an article clipped about the Ensenada/La Paz run Ed and Larry (there's another person I've not heard about in a while) did in the replica 09...
And of course the SCVMTFCA Endurance run / lowland tour is coming!! Only wish now I was on that side of the pond... SOOOO many good memories!

Polotics are part of the Model t world, but it has a time and a place. If you dont want to read a thread DONT CLICK ON IT, ITS AS SIMPLE AS THAT!!
As for us younger folks who enjoy the Ts, how are we going to promote the hobby if we all rant how the world and the Ts are going to heck in a handbassket??? Who wants to be a part of a hobby like that?? Just because people dont agree with your views dosent mean you cant still get along... you dont even have to actually face them, were online!
I dont get it...
