I used to live five blocks from the incident.
It's been a day down here but this year is going to be happy for us.
So, everyone else has permission to be happy too.

My sister and brother-in-law's nephew and his friend were run over on Bourbon St. Both had surgeries yesterday and today for the most severe injuries. Neither is considered stable yet with head injuries and crushed bones. Happy new year.

Both are consdered "stable" at this time but need more surgeries. My brother-in-law's nephew has brain injuries, among others. He is expected to be in the hospital for a few months. He is still intubated but able to communicate with a whiteboard. His friend had both legs broken in several places. His breathing tube has been removed and he's in good spirits.

These two young men are on extended leave from the military. The last time I saw them was at Thanksgivving. They were leaving for a cross country tour of the US before returning for duty. They just stopped at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Thank you for your concern, Norm.
