Posting Comments in the Classifieds

It sure would be nice to have a Classified section without Opinions. Turning peoples ads into general discussion topic. Driving other sellers ads into oblivion.

Another forum I look at has the ability to comment turned off in the classified section. You can only message the seller through PMs.

The most useful comments are
Email sent
Still available
Price drop
Sold
Giving an after-sale review could be a good thing to. “Great seller” “Great buyer” this may help with trust in a scammer world.

History lessons are nice but keep the item at the top dropping other items down. If it becomes important to make a comment, consider just starting a topic in the general discussion section. drop the discussion link in the classified ad
Later someone might be able to find it with well written subject titles vs it being lost in some random classified ad.

Seller corrections may need to be done privately or with great care. They have the ability to come off as public shaming if the wording is off.
Helping with identifying parts is a good thing but will still require buyer research to be convinced. again, start a general discussions ad and post the link

It would be nice to revise the classifieds, but it takes a village. It comes down to clicking that post button, I guess. ;)

I feel they just come off as public shaming.
I totally disagree. Corrections are not shaming. It is important to make corrections in real time, not whenever the original poster reads their email. Incorrect information about a part can cause someone to buy or sell the wrong item. Let's be transparent and truthful in ads. Errors can occur and most of us will offer respectful corrections.

Valid point and makes sense, also has been helpful in the past. real time is also important.
If a random poster makes a public correction should a bystander reading them know the information is accurate just because it was posted?
it seems trust becomes the issue either way
I would think sellers would check there emails often because they are selling things. And if not, are they checking their listings? maybe I am wrong
As far as Scammers are concerned as long as it can be verified Comment away. I am not suggesting a ban. Just a call to common sense.
buyers beware and do you research. Sellers do you research before posting.

Then there are those that post an add, never check the listing or answer PM's or emails or when it sells, never updates the add by posting SOLD in the title.

Maybe that’s the reason buyers are leaving messages to sellers to call them
You know when they get around to it…
