Happy Birthday Marines. On this day in 1775 my Marine Corps came alive. How many Marines do we have out there? When did you serve. For me 1984-2014 Enlisted and Officer. I have to say I had more fun as a Sgt then I ever did as a LtCol.

Ooh-rah, Lt. Col., SIR ! Semper Fi !

DOD contactor, originally assigned to 1/3 in Helmand 2010-2013. Best thing I
ever did in my life.

Post deployment: Mentor/trainer involved with Vets on the Farm 2015-present.
Currently working with post-active USMC personnel to develop a broader post-
transition career and training program/s for Marines.

I find your trolling all over this site to be disgusting, Mister Hicks. There is nothing
in my posts that is "bragging". I am proud to have went and done something. Something
YOU never did at all, yet you feel compelled that every time I post ANYTHING about
what I did, to somehow crap all over it. You are the definition of a malcontent.
Your opinion is meaningless and based in some desire to bring others down. How about
you tell us all about the meaningful things that you have done instead of always cutting
down what others do ?

Lighten up Tom. Many served in many ways and we owe them all a lot.
If you want to pick on someone, pick on me I didn't serve at all but certainly appreciate all who did.
This thread is a great way to remember those who fought for our country. Not for fighting on this otherwise wonderful forum.
Thanks
Rich

Thanks for that, Scott. Pretty good read that lays it out as I saw it.

Mr. Hicks understanding of US military contractors clearly follows what is laid out
in this article.

What baffles me is his perptetual targeting of me with personal attacks, twisting
my statements of the experience being the best thing I ever did - meant as a learning,
training, self-discipline, and working alongside the best people on earth thing -into
some bizarre idea of "bragging" (his word, not mine). The USMC was very good to me,
and I enjoyed the culture. And this charge that what I did is an insult to bonafide
service members .... quite odd, considering my life since has been largely spent working
with and for vets, specifically Marines, and as Marines who went and saw and did, they
are not the least bit insulted, and we work well together.

The forum rules clearly state that personal attacks are not going to be tolerated, yet
Mr. Hicks seems to get a free pass. Not sure what is up with that.

Regardless, this is not about this person or that, as Mr. Hicks would like to distract it
to be. It is about the 244th Birthday of the USMC at Tun Tavern on Water Street, in
Philadelpia, Pa, 10 Nov. 1775. Mr. Hicks' ignorance and mysteriously tolerated "loud"
presence here will neither humiliate me, as he so seems to desire to do, nor deter my
observation and respect for the USMC which so graciously allowed me to serve them.

You're welcome Burger

I had a pretty good handle on what/how this worked but still found the article illuminating in several areas. I'm guessing/hoping that I'm not the only one who learned something from the article.

Service to this Great Nation comes in many ways. Grateful to all that served and to those who support them.
