Duesenberg donation

Post by Dallas Landers » Wed Jan 08, 2020 2:38 pm

The ACD museum in Auburn Indiana recieved a 1921 Duesenberg in the same family since new. The 1st model offered to the public. The family had the car restored at 10,000 hours labor. Estimated value of 50 million. I cant wait to read entire artical in the paper. My cousin is a volunteer mechanic at the ACD! Maybe I can get a good look at it?

Wow! Was that the Castle coupe, car No. 601 that was at Pebble Beach not long ago?
Looking forward to more.
Rich

Not sure Rich. I tried to get the paper to read artical but they were out. I know its a 1921 Duesenberg model A coupe and is the 1st one sold to the public. I guess the family had a sugar plantation which became Dole fruit company. I guess Steve will have to come back to see it. As I said my cousin volunteers at the museum and some donated cars come with stipulations like they must be seen by the public and or driven X amount of times each year. I hope this is one of the driven ones.

Dallas are you saying i would be lucky to see out of the windows? Wonderful car but it is not what i normally think of a Duesenberg ? I don"t recall if i have ever seen a Lufkin center punch but i remember being in the closed Lufkin Rule plant in Saginaw long long ago. When Lufkin closed a welder came to the old Chevy plant in Saginaw and worked as a Millwright and he said when he was young he had a model T. :D Bud.
