Thanks for all the replies. It appears sufficient interest does exist to begin preparation. Since this is an interactive activity, I would like to invite a few folks to participate by checking their inventory of spare Model T parts for coils with used sets of coil points (later production points with 1" diameter vibrator spring) of varying degrees of wear to serve as examples for the Coil Point Inspection/Refurbishing segment. Specifically, coil point sets with:
1. Minor wear (gray smooth surface)
2. Moderate wear (gray, lightly pitted surface)
3. Heavy wear (dark gray with moderate pit on one contact and deposition of metal on the mating contact)
4. Severe wear (large, deep pit(s) on one or both contact surfaces
Another topic suggestion for this or future Webinar is:
Viewer submitted coils for test/diagnosis and if possible, adjustment. This segment would be the opportunity for a couple viewers to find out why swapping out that one odd ball coil solved their engine performance issue.
Only a few examples of each are needed for the Webinar so if you have some of the items sought and would like to donate sets of used coil points or have your problem coil diagnosed live (and returned), please let me know via email: Mictel (the at sign) Comcast period Net

AdminJeff put their Webinar on youtube, so it can be done. I think Mike already has some videos on youtube, but they are pretty short.
I am sure Mike will find some way to do it. He is pretty computer savvy.

I received notice that MTFCA Webinars will be subject to the same rules that apply to the Forum. That means vendors, suppliers and developers of Model T products or services offered for sale commercially are ineligible to provide content for MTFCA hosted Webinars.
The coil testing/tuning topics I proposed would in fact use tools I developed and offered commercially so the proposed Webinar was declined. Alternately, Vendors, suppliers and developers of Model T products and services are invited to host their own Webinars and advertise the event in the MTFCA Classifieds. Unfortunately, I don't have time at present to learn/host/moderate a Webinar in addition to preparing the Webinar content. Unless someone has Zoom hosting/moderating experience and would like to collaborate privately, I will have to defer Hosting my own coil testing/tuning Webinar to share my knowledge and techniques to the future.

I would assume that also means that you cannot give a presentation at the Museum and neither can any other vendor. So if the gentleman from Classtique wanted to show how to upholster a seat, that would also be declined. Then Brent Mize or Ron Patterson also could not demonstrate anything to do with coils at the Museum or at the homecomings. I would consider that a loss for the club. Too bad. Some rules are just wrong.

I rather expected the MTFCA supported webinar would be turned down as it would include using tool(s) sold by Mike and would be considered advertising. A distinction between that and Ron or Brent demonstrating coil rebuild or tuning would be that they sell a service (which they are telling you how to do yourself) rather than selling a product and they would not e permitted to pitch "send your coils to me". I have great respect for Mike and have used his E-Timer successfully and if I still ran T coils I'd buy his ECCT. I also have great respect for Ron and Brent and while I haven't used their services I appreciate their support of the hobby.
Please don't let this turn into another P'in match on the forum.

What if someone else who has your product, knows how to use it, and doesn't sell them or get any compensation from you do the webcast demo. Would that be permitted? That way we still get to see the "How To" with no sales presentation involved.

Buy the book ($12), and buy someone's coil adjustment equipment ($300+ depending on type and source):
https://modeltstore.myshopify.com/produ ... ce-manuals and do it yourself or pay $58 each for someone else to do them.
not a big deal
In fact, considering the value of parts supplied with a rebuilt coil. the remaining $$ for the labor paid to someone who knows what their doing to rebuild one is an absolute steal, which is why I will not do another one for anyone. Kudos to those who do.
I've never watched any of them, but a quick search on YouTube brought up any number of "How To" videos on how to rebuild the coils. I expect that they range from poor to very good.
Problem Solved.

If I knew of a supplier that was having a online seminar or Webinar, could I notify people on this board that it was coming up and put a link here for them to sign up for the webinar?
Just curious if this would break the rules.

I'm registered!
I have rebuilt lots of coils since Ron converted me 20+ years ago. However, I have one that I rebuilt a while back that does not work. I have checked all the circuitry backward and forward. New points, new capacitor, proper point setting, increased spring tension, decreased spring tension... But still nada. Zip. Zero.

Keith, insufficient data. Define "does not work" ; I assume it does not generate any spark but does it :
Draw current?
Do the points open periodically ( ie buzz)?
Does the secondary measure around 3200 Ohms
If so, could be arcing internally ( Read URSOL)
Is there excessive arcing at the points when buzzing?
If so, capacitor (or connections to it ) could have failed.
The last time I encountered a similar scenario, the new capacitor was the wrong type (metalized mylar) with 60V/us dV/dt instead of 600V/us so it failed causing intermittent firing then no firing.

Hi Mike,
I will try to attend, very interesting topic. But I may have to move my Dad this Saturday either. Can we watch this webinar later somewhere on the web if we are not able to attend?
Kind regards,

I agree that it was very informative webinar!
Thanks Mike for all the work that you put into sharing about the time-to-fire method of tuning coils and putting together the webinar!
Thanks MTFCA admins and board for putting this together.

Rendering a 2 hour long video is a painstaking ordeal, and I have all the cool toys to do it. Not to mention then uploading it to YouTube. I'll post the link here when I'm done, with any luck, later today.
All in all, this webinar really went well. Nice job Mike!
I'm still looking for Actual contributors (we have plenty of ideas) for next Sat.
If there are no other takers, I'm happy to do story time on my 3 engine and 2 transmission blowups in the first 6 months of My "The life of a T newbie - Model T ownership lessons learned the hard way". The learning curve and detective work involved in figuring out "likely" root causes was simply insane. It certainly would result in a very lively panel discussion!

Thank you, for the post to youtube. It did inspire me to work on an adjustment tool for both the upper and lower bridge in response to a question about the use of the hammer to adjust the lower bridge. I attached a photo for review and comment, the design most likely has been made in many backyard garages never to get exposure without the web. thank you, Erick.

Erick,
Nice tool! Similar to the one that I made out of a Model T frame. What metal did you make it from?
