How much clearance?
How much clearance should there be between the rod cap and the crankshaft lobe? Skat crank has tight tolerances!!! Old cranks dont have this issue… lots of slop between journal lobes.

Ford specs are the crank is 1.505" and rod is 1.5" wide.

Is the rod turning or binding?

Re: How much clearance?
OK, usually it is the fillet cut that is tight, not cut deep enough to clear the fillet on the edge of the crank journal, but if you think it is too wide then rub the rod on a flat piece of glass with a sheet of about 320 sand paper. Run the rod bearing in with time saver.

Re: How much clearance?
I would rather have a large radius than a small one, less chance of breakage.

Amen Joe. As stated time saver will be your friend in fitting the rods on the journal, yellow 60 grit
