I am going to be putting a top wood and covering on a closed cab soon. The roof is mostly missing except a few sticks of wood. Does anyone have a plan or pictures of one complete? Both inside and out would be a great help. Thanks

I have a 24 C cab with a wood roof, tried kits but they didn’t fit, made it from scratch. Covered it with convertible top material. Have pictures of wood top before covering with material only.Photo’s upside down (first attempt) Sorry!

Thanks Brad, that’s exactly what I needed. Did you leave the flannel showing for a headliner?

I sure did! I didn’t want to be looking at plain black/tan/white muslin. Too boring. The plaid material I found is stronger and more weather resistant anyway. Win-Win. I’m documenting the crap out of this build so keep a look out if there’s anything else I can help out with.

Have a 27 TT Closed cab with just a few badly weathered sticks too.
Just wondering if they used chicken wire on the wood to support the
padding like so many other 20's cars I had . I don't have enough left
of my top to check.

No chicken wire roof foundation in model Ts or TTs.

Here in Australia on our colonial built cars a layer of natural hessian/burlap was laid on the wooden slats. That is what is seen from underneath in the cabin. Next was a thin layer of felt. I use 1/4" dacron sheeting from a quilting supplies shop because it is not affected by moisture. Then the top material is applied, in many cases it was canvas.

It is a natural colored burlap sort of canvas, just like old feed sacks. It is faded
and weathered and has a few water stains. While I can't swear it is original to the
factory build, many, more knowing than me, have commented that it looks to be
"correct" OEM. Exterior is a vinyl-like material, similar to what was OEM for 50's
convertibles. Likely from being replaced at that time.

No Mack I don’t have a tt. I am finishing up one for a oil company. Their business was started in 24 with a tt delivering coal.
