Roger was president of the MTFCA in 2005.

He was quite the character, we had the pleasure of visiting him & his wife Jan in Tennessee before they moved to Florida.

He will be missed.

Roger was a great guy. What a zeal for life! He and I served on the MTFCA board for a few years and Yvonne and I had the pleasure of socializing with him and Jan. We loved to hear him say that he "pahked the cah behind the bahn." Jan was quite the character, too. I remember Yvonne was admiring a ring that Jan was wearing and she said, "Oh, this is my backhoe." She said that every time that Roger bought a car or piece of equipment, she would buy herself a new piece of jewelry!

Rest in Peace, my friend.

R.I.P. Roger. You have given a lot of people good memories, and that says a lot.


Keith, I related to my wife your story of Jan getting a new piece of jewelry every time Roger bought another car or piece of equipment. She asked, "Did she have to sell a piece of jewelry each time he sold a car ?"

Roger was one of a kind. So many memories:

On the Saratoga tour, we returned to the motel one day and were met with a chalk outline of a 'body' in the parking lot - the beginning of one of Roger's schemes. It was "Bob" (a dummy) who had been run over by a Model T. I don't remember whose car it was. Father Sean O'Brien arranged for a lot of flowers and "Bob" was taken, with a police escort, to the Saratoga Racetrack on the back of a Roadster Pickup. The entire procession was allowed to go through red lights, for an uninterrupted line of many cars.

At the tour in Hagerstown, MD "Bob" (somehow returned from his demise) and Annie, another dummy, were married in an elaborate ceremony. Roger orchestrated a wedding procession through Hagerstown. Over a hundred cars. The local residents thought it an exciting event. The police were not amused, and wished they had been notified.

On a personal note, Roger was the most generous person I have known. Karen and I want to send our sympathy to Jan and their sons and families. I am grateful to have known Roger.

Rest in Peace, Roger. We remember Roger and Jan from several tours. In the two examples Dave Simmering related above, we were there for both of them. They were a riot!!!

What a great story about a good friend you had ...

Of all personality traits - Humor - is the one I think is essential in Friendship.

He sounds familiar but I don’t know if I ever met him.

I remember when Roger built his new barn in Marshfield, Mass. It was like a museum with all the antiques on display. He also had an amusement ride type of train that went around his property. He will be missed. RIP
