Mystery Front Axle Bits

I’m working hard to save every last little usable bits off of my ‘25 parts chassis before I haul the rest to the metal recycler and came across these little clamps.

I thought at first that they might be towing hooks, but they’re facing the wrong way. Could they be part of an aftermarket gizmo of some sort? If so, and someone is needing them, I’d like to find a new home for them.

They look too purposeful and fit too precisely to make me think they’re homemade.

I think they are for a strap type of shock absorber.

Rich is correct- those clamps are for the webbed strap from a snubber to attach to the front axle. I believe Ford offered a snubber as an accessory on the improved Fords of 26-27. A common brand name was Gabriel. The snubber unit attached to the side rail of the frame near the front cross member and the strap from the snubber unit extended vertically down to the clamp on the front axle.

They are correct. They are snubber strap brackets. Someone needs them. That is the part that is usually missing.

Hi Don, sent you an email. I would love to purchase those. I have NOS shocks but not the axle mounting hardware.

My grandson has those snubber straps on his Ford Ranger to control the suspension in rough terrain, they are aftermarket but still used today.

John...I removed the “gizmos” and started cleaning them up.

One of them looks almost new after some time with the wire wheel. The other one fought me more coming off and I broke the bolt. So you’ll have to find another square headed shoulder bolt to match.

I’m gonna try to extract the broken bolt and finish cleaning up the second one.
