Be in a box and in the mail tomorrow. This is what takes the time.......custom bolts for mounting to the manifold, 5/16 x 18 with a custom washer . Yeah, I have every possible size of bolt and washers, but a carb this pretty going on a nice speedster begs for a little more brass.

Three little custom brass washers on the bell crank and arm, too. This is one of the last U & J carbs, built with a bell crank and arm to allow for a foot feed. Haven't seen many of these.

That’s pretty! Almost hate to put these carbs on a motor and get them “dirty.” Waiting for pistons to get our racer back on the road. I can’t wait to try the carb you built.

Very fancy mounting bolts. Was that a U&J design or your own custom design?

Thanks for the calls and messages, this one is sold and has been in the queue for a couple months.
I have a couple cores but none with this bell crank setup.
I have never been able to find any literature showing the bell crank but I think it was close to the end of the run for u and j. There are other minor differences, too. The adjuster is larger, slightly different air bleeder, etc.

Mark, I make a lot of bolts and screws from brass hex stock. This had the original bolts with it when it came in but they were rusty and rounded off so I made these.

I also used the last of the original needle and seat assemblies that I have been modifying in these.
I finally broke down and bought the odd size thread tap and die set some of them need. Some are SAE standard and some aren't.

Just like the bowl nut. I have never been able to find a tap in that size with a tpi that matches.

It must be some obscure European thread/size system that is long obsolete.

So I turn the stem down and rethread it to sae standard and make new bowl nuts.

There is more to this than swishing them around in carb cleaner and polishing them with an oily rag.

It also makes a difference what condition the core is in. One that is beat all to hell, missing parts and has some soup can Venturi soldered in is a lot harder to rebuild than a nice core.
That said, I sure wish there was a source for brass bowls for these, Holley two screw, Holley H1, Holley G, etc.

Stan, why not have the steel bowls brass plated?

Powder coating pretty well hides the pock marks and imperfections.
Brass coating highlights them.

Plus there are not enough hours in the day, days in the week or weeks in the year to do everything.
