it was in a barn fire, this 1915 ford died, i put hundreds of miles on her, back in 75, a new food store chain was started it the upper valley, doc was a vet and could not take the time to run between the new stores with his t, there were four of then all to open this one day, having helped in the building of his t he asked if i would like the job, she was a true 15, no starter, and no door on the left, now to make things interesting there was a young lady dressed like Dazy may, in dog patch days, that was part of the team, I'm six foot three 300 pounds , AND SHE IS A LITTLE PERSON OF 120 lbs SOAKING wet well twice i stalled the ford, the parking lot was full of people, one of them said let me give her a twist, man was i glad for that, she took right off like always. the next i was not so lucky, all i got was a lowed cheer, we put in a full day running between stores ,the ford aside from me stalling, never missed a beat. it was later that summer when the fire did its thing, doc is standing looking down in the hole, im in the white shirt and top hat on the right , doc started another 15 and it set in his new barn partly done, he kept saying he was going to dig the other ford up as he needed some parts off it. doc passed away 6 years ago, i don't think any one in his family will finish this one. ---a little side story, i took my son and my wife on a ride in the country, we were 30 miles from home and its getting late, pow went the left front tire, i know the country side as i grew up there, we were a little beond the joy farm, the spare was flat, Alex a worker there was setting side the road when we went by, [dirt road] i took the spare and walked back to the farm Alex was a older guy perhaps my age now, [82] the tube in the spare was shot. after a little thought he started stuffing wet burlap grain bags in the tire, we had one hel2 OF A JOB TO GET THE TIRE BACK ON THE RIM, I HEADED FOR THE SHORTEST WAY HOME, we made it and the head lights worked. true story, doc had a grave stone put at his model t in the back yard, here lays liz born 1915 died 1976.
