Got an email from Larry Smith, known as Original Smith asking me to buy an iTunes card for him to send to his niece. He said he was traveling and was having trouble getting one online. After initially agreeing, I thought about it and concluded it was probably a scam and emailed him back asking for his phone number. I'll see what happens but I dont think I'll get a reply.

Yes a scam....easy to tell by asking for a completely un-traceable iTunes card pay. Bad deal anytime.
and likely your email address is now added to 'scammers international' as a 'mark' target. Beware of more phishing emails to you.

I agree. Just got a reply stating he is unavailable by phone.

I just deleted it.

I had to deal with that all day yesterday. I'm so sorry it happened. I'll probably change my email password. It's hard to believe there are people out there that do this kind of thing. To me it's an obvious scam, but a couple of ladies I know actually fell for it, but didn't go through with it.

I son't know if it's a NOS scam, but it seems like a spurious part...

Sorry, Larrry... this stinks. Got hit by one of them a few years ago (from another forum), and it'll drive you bats for a while.

Larry, It is very likely that you did NOT get hacked UNLESS your email address is origsmith@hotmail.com That is who Bob responded to. Then Bob got a response from this email address origsmith@sbcglobal.net That's when the scam blossomed. If origsmith@hotmail.com is your email address then YES change your passwordS.
