Ruckstell rebuild?

I want to rebuild a Ruckstell for my touring while new parts (I hope) are still available. In reading the Ruckstell book I find that the drive shaft assembly is included and refers only to stock Ford parts and procedures. Is there any reason not to use an already rebuilt DS that includes the FP pinion bearing? Will that require any special procedures not covered in Glen's book?

Steve, there is absolutely no reason why you can't use your rebuilt drive shaft assembly with modern pinion bearing. It will all fit together fine as long as you are using the correct bearing spool for your axle housings. I have a ruckstell in both my coupe and my runabout and they are a wonderful accessory to have.

I used the FP non adjustable one in the last Ruckstell I did, installed the same as going into a stock rear.

I suspected as much, but thought I'd better check. Many thanks.

There is nothing wrong with a stock pinion bearing either. That's what I use.

Like said nothing different required for the drive shaft used in a Ruckstell. Steve, I love the larger font, do you have to reset every time you type or is there a setting that will keep the size. Thanks.

Not that I know of. For me it's no big deal to just click Large.

The original thrust bearing used in Ruckstells was a form of micarta. I don't know why Glenn refused to make his like Ruckstell did. I have always had to make up mine special. I don't have problems either. Ruckstell made over 200,000 units, so I guess they were ok!
