30 x 3 1/2 clincher ID

Post by Mark Osterman » Mon Feb 17, 2020 5:14 pm

I bought this 30 x 3 1/2 clincher rim at Hershey a few years ago. It’s in perfect condition, no worn lugs or sharp edges, but it didn’t fit my wheels. Frustrating as Hell. The lugs are marked M H. Any ideas?

And now you know why it's in perfect condition

That's a bummer. Good luck. I've never seen one with that profile before.

Right Scott. I carried that thing like a Robert Service’s Sam Magee. I think it might be for a Chevrolet.

There are a handfull of metric size rims out there too... and dare I mention... a few poor reproductions!🤭

Mark, if it's for a Chev, the valve hole will be closer to the lug, and on the opposite side of the hole than it is on a Ford rim. This means that the lug nearest the valve hole on a Chev rim is slotted to allow the rim to be dropped over the bolt when the valve stem is lowered through the felloe.
I can't see that slotted lug on your rim.

I agree it's not a Chebby rim. I don't think it's Ford either. Ford wheels were made by Firestone, Hayes, Kelsey, Pruden, and Ford. I've never read of any that would be marked MM. Perhaps aftermarket, or some other small car.
