I purchased a 1923 open express in November or 2018. In December of 2019, David Currier installed a depot Hack body. The rear fenders are in the paint shop and I would like to get a spare tire and spare tire carrier along with other accessories in the next few weeks. Since I am new to Model T Ford, I was hoping to find the least expensive way to accomplish the finishing touches. any help or guidance would be appreciated. Is there a "used parts for sale" section on this site?

How can I be sure the parts are the correct fit?

Normally a hack or p/u would have a side mounted spare assuming the driver's door didn't open or some accessory (hard to come by) under the bed mounts like a modern p/u.

I can't help with the spare tire, but good call on the new body. It looks awesome.

The driver's side has no door. I am looking for the tire that will mount on the driver side above the running board. I would purchase from a supplier like Langs but I'm not sure what part number(s) to order. Hoping there might be a used one in someone's old parts stock in an abandoned garage somewhere. If all else fails I can build a bracket, but if I don't have to reinvent the thing ... that would be better

I have already experienced a flat tire and was unable to attend a car show as a result. I ordered the replacement tire tube and tools for changing the tire tube. Langs sent it and i was up and running the following week. I just want to be better prepared if I get another flat tire.

I have a spare tire mounted on a rim in good serviceable condition that holds air. It has some chew marks on it from a squirrel or rat, this aged patina I will not charge extra for! LOL

Not to confuse you, but what you have are 4.40x21 inch demountables as you know. There are also 30x3-1/2 and 30 x 3. The OD are the same but it stops there.

On a Hack, one like Jack Daron use to make for Roadster pickups would work but I haven’t seen any ever up for resale.

Hacks are usually something cobbled together that just works. . This pick shows one I saw that uses 3 point tie up...just bent strap stock, a few holes, and some leather strap.

My Hack is much simpler...a piece of all thread with the same thread as a regular wheel nut, washers, and 6 nuts (double nutted to keep rattles at bay). This goes thru one of the reinforcements on the body at about 11 o clock on where the tire sits. The tire lug gets nutted here. The just 2 footman clips in the running board and a leather strap. Only a two point hook up, but surprisingly it doesn’t wiggle

Best look again ,George - those sure appear to be 30 x 3.5 demountable - not 21" split rim.

Ah, I looked at the top photos again...I don’t see it, the sidewall proportion seems too high...I don’t see a split line on my cell screen...so guess I’ll just accept my “spotter” is wrong. . Sorry to all if I confused.

A word of caution on the rims: eventually they were all made interchangeable, but this was not always the case. I can't tell from the pictures whether your rims are Hayes, Kelsey, Firestone, or Ford, but you may need to get a spare rim of the same make to fit your wheels. Another factor to consider is that the wheels on your car may not necessarily be the right ones for 1923. Over the course of 90+ years many of these cars have have acquired the "wrong" wheels. I would determine what the other rims are, and find a spare rim to match. This is not as difficult as it may seem, especially if your other rims are Hayes. Those are most common, and not hard to find.

This is my homemade spare tire carrier. The door does not open. The vertical piece carries the weight, the bottom "U" stabilizes the tire and wheel.

THANKS The picture of your Depot Hack is exactly what I want for the canvas fabricator. I am getting clear curtains made just like yours. To be "period correct" we will be using something called "Common Sence fasteners" but they come with Phillips screws. I will be buying slot head screws to replace all the Phillips screws he installs.

I like the spare tire holder. That is exactly where I will mount my spare tire.

Also, I want to thank Hank for the complete tire and carrier. A little paint and some tire black will make it perfect for my T
