Anyone use a Model A fuel shutoff on a T?

Post by TRDxB2 » Wed Feb 19, 2020 10:56 am

There have been lots of discussions about fuel shutoffs but I hadn't seen any reference to those used on a Model A. No idea of thread sizes but some look promising. Has anyone looked into using one of these? The top two don't leak! Not sure about the bottom one.

The top is the one used on the late 1931 that uses the side bowl carb. My 1931 pisckup has the set up/ The lower picture is the used on the side bowl carb.

The Model A fuel shut off has 1/4 PT at the end that screws into the tank. By time you would buy all the parts (new shutoff is 29.95 plus shipping) to install plus a fuel filter you might be in the ball park of a new Model T type sediment bowl anyway. If you have the parts now, you would only need the bushing to install in the tank and would suggest installing pencil type filter.

If you are thinking of using at the carb as a shut off, there would not be space as you would have to use reducing bushing to mate to carb that has 1/8 PT at inlet. Even if the inlet on the carb was the right size, don't think there would be room anyway. If I install any more shut offs at the carb they will be the inline ball type. I would be looking for function not style.
