The suppliers have two types of adjustable lifters, self-locking for 2 wrench adjustment and lifters with locknuts which require 3 wrenches for adjusting.

What are the pros and cons? Are the ones with lock nuts less prone to coming loose?

I used to use the self locking two wrench push rods till I broke a bolt on one during the readjustment of the valves after running in an engine.
To repair the engine needed to come out and taken apart to replace the push rod. That was 10 years ago.
Since than I use the three wrench push rods without any problem.
