Had I not heard it on the news this afternoon, I would have completely forgot, but tonight (or tomorrow morning), March 8, at 2:00 am, daylight savings time goes into effect, so clocks need to be set forward one hour. This means you will have one extra hour of daylight to work on your T. Jim Patrick.

Jim,

Of course you know that only applies to;

Those who can tell time 🧐
Those who care what really the time is πŸ‘

The time change effects me more and more each year, I wish we would just split the difference and move the clocks 30 minutes and leave them be.

Only for you guys in the US. In EU we wait until March 29. Working in a company (IBM) where we do have meeting with collegues in the US, making that work will be a bigger challenge for some weeks.

I didn't lose any sleep! at my age, I go to sleep at 10:00 PM and get up when I wake up. Haven't used an alarm clock for 12 years. I always wake up aching so don't need one.

Speaking of sleep, I had a blanket that was too short for the bed, so I cut a foot off one end and sewed that onto the opposite end. Just like daylight saving ! It’s much longer now. :D

It's the only day of the year all my clocks show the same time on them... at least for a little while!

I've always thought it was funny when dairy guys said the time change confuses the cows. It doesn't confuse them a bit. They know what time it really is. :D

Obviously, we have made some adjustments based on political boundaries, but consider:

If you circle the earth at the equator you will cross 360 degrees. Every 15 degrees is a time zone (15 X24 = 360). I fail to understand why folks are compelled to monkey with this natural arrangement. It is what time it is, regardless of what we fool ourselves into thinking. If folks want an hour more daylight time after work, then arrange to start work an hour earlier. Large employers would soon enough determine if the expense side and the productivity side of the change in hours was beneficial. Meanwhile, leaving the natural time in place year-round would deal government out of the decision, which is EXACTLY where government should be.

Anyhow, my $0.02 worth.

P.S. My maternal grandfather was a farmer. He flatly refused to change his clock for daylight savings, so I guess my opposition is inherited. :lol:

Oregon and Washington are on track to set the clocks and leave them be, just waiting on California then Fed approval. All three stated have to be on board before it can move ahead for approval.
