I was just on the HCCA website and in addition to Chickasa being cancelled, it shows that the Bakersfield swap meet is down with the Corona Virus.

HCCA has been confusing with cancellation notices being crossed out that way?
However, they also posted this on their website yesterday

https://www.hcca.org/NationalNews.php?99.pdf

Sounds cancelled to me.

It's my understanding that this is NOT an HCCA event. They pulled out of that participation. Therefore, "canceling it" would not be up to them.
I have sent an email to Pat Johnson of the Kern County Model T Club asking him to weigh in on this. I will report back here when I hear back from him. Hopefully, if the HCCA has not torpedoed it, it will go on as planned.

Given that the CDC has urged folks to not attend gatherings in excess of 50 people at a time, I woudn't count on it.

I was looking forward to it, hopefully they’ll reschedule it, maybe late September.. I don’t know though, that may impact next year.... That said, I’d rather live with the inconvenience than the consequences. It seems relatively minor to reschedule events a few months if time slots are open. It’s probably easier to reschedule events from spring into the the early fall now than it will be In a couple of months. Most people are concerned with canceling and seeing how it goes. At least if the plug Is pulled on something now there’s a decent chance at rescheduling it this year. It’s going to be more of a problem for groups that wait until the last minute to reschedule, because by then there will be more competition for the early fall.

Bakersfield is, by far my favorite swap meet of the year, because we get to see so many old friends in addition to meeting and talking to customers. In addition, I've been thinning the herd a little and collecting items to bring to Bakersfield over the last several months. I'm hoping that Gary is correct in that something can happen later in the year. Other friends are feeling the same as I do, but whats more important? our health or car parts? can't enjoy one without the other- goes for friends as well as parts eh?
