Prop Nut Question

I got this nice set of top prop nuts today. Am curious if these were significantly different for different years. Were they always painted black? These appear to be nickel plated under the paint.

The parts book calls out that 3624X Top Prop Nut as black japanned. Would think Ford used rather plain versions.

However there is part 9677X , '15-'18 as Top Prop Nut for coupe and town car. Maybe fancy rimmed edge?

Canada had own part 10069 Top Prop Nut, '20-'22 for the one man top.

Those nuts used on many car of the day. Have seen some elaborate edge reeding, and early large brass cars got brass parts one would assume.

Well, Japanning is essentially a baked on asphalt and lampblack coating, the same as used to make tintype plates. No problem .. I make tintypes for my day job. 😀
