I am seriously thinking of going to the Billings tour but I also want to go to Yellowstone. My tentative plan is to see the usual sites and maybe a few dirt roads off the main highways. Is anyone interested in going in a group of Model Ts after the main tour?

Anyone driving from Cody to Billings is going past us. You're welcome to stop and chat and visit the site where the famous Tim Moore cooled his heels for a couple of days.

The Billings tour starts on July 16 and ends on July 20. My idea is to spend a few days after the tour in or near Yellowstone.

The Billings tour was on my agenda for this year but I guess my wife didn't get the memo. Instead I'm trailering my coupelet to Nebraska to show my extended family all the work I've done on it. I would love to cruise Yellowstone in my 11 touring though.

Why not do both, after all from Southern Cal Yellowstone and Billings are almost on route, well close..

If I'm not being too pushy, if you both could be more specific about what you plan/would like to see and when, those who may share interest could look into lodging for the couple of days after the Billings Tour and join you.

We don’t have any specific plans that I know about. Right now it seems we will be using RVs out of West Yellowstone. I would like to see the Big Geyser and some vauge idea of finding a few quiet, maybe dirt, road to see some more hidden areas.
As far as I’m concerned it’s open for any ideas.

Sounds pretty intriguing, Tony. Haven't put together my tour schedule for the summer. I guess I need to run this by Susie and see if this tour fits in the schedule. The Billings tour looks like a lot of fun, and some time in Yellowstone would be a great way to top it off.

Wife and I went to Yellowstone two years ago. We stayed in West Yellowstone rv park and drove our Fordor through the park. Please relies west Yellowstone is 15 miles from the grand loop. That is the start of the attractions. The grand loop is over 100 miles around and crosses three continental divides with miles of 6% grades to the divides. Gas is available at several places inside the park, if the station you are at has not run out. Depending on which way you go around the loop you will have at least one divide to cross to get to Old Faithful.
You will also be stopped by animal back ups. Animals wander onto the roads and you won't believe the traffic backups they cause.

Don't only go to see the geysers, stop at the paint pots. These are pools of water that are amazingly beautiful in the vibrant colors in these very hot poisonous waters.

Yellowstone is one of the most beautiful places we have been to and we enjoyed see it in our T. Keep your gas tank as full as possible and don't let the traffic get to you.

I’m now booked into the RV sites in Billings and West Yellowstone, so it’s a GO for me.
We’ll get together in Billings to set up details for the Yellowstone tour, I welcome any ideas.

Steven has made some excellent points. I have not done the Park in a T but live nearby and make multiple trips each season. With that experience, I will add to Steven's advice that despite driving a 100 y/o car, you will not be the slowest car on the road for multiple reasons. Please, anyone taking this trip, contact the Park and make reservations somewhere inside such that you are not forced to return to W. Yellowsone each night. It is a beautiful and occasionally challenging drive but would be no picnic to do at dusk or in the dark. And finally, when you do enter the Park, READ THE LITERATURE that the Rangers give you. It will increase your enjoyment of what you're seeing and experiencing, as well as quite possibly save your life. This fellow paid for his stupidity with 130 days in jail. Others pulling the same stunt have paid with their life.

It is wonderful and only occasionally a little scary touring Yellowstone in an open car. My wife and I and a few friends have done it a couple of times in the last several years. It can approach tense in my speedster (no top or fenders), I would be my eyeballs even with the nose of the average adult bison. Not an experience I want up close. I have always kept an eye out around wildlife and surrounding traffic. People will block the road so I try to keep some distance and plan an escape route. It wouldn't be quite as tense in a touring car and no big deal at all in a closed car. Just remember they are a heck of a lot bigger than you are so treat with great respect. We will be going to the Billings tour, don't know about following on to Yellowstone yet but will likely stay in West Yellowstone with the RV if we take that side trip. Have stayed there and also at the northern campground for the Grand Tetons and liked both. Make any and all reservations soon for accommodations. It's easier to cancel if need be than to get a spot on short notice. Old Faithful is neat but we really enjoyed many other places as much or more.

There are some gravel roads in Yellowstone. Dean Yoder and I found this road near Mammoth Hot Springs while on the Parks to Park tour in 2015.
