Actual Model T Values

Post by Tim Rogers » Mon Mar 30, 2020 1:37 pm

One of the great things about Ebay is that it can tell you what cars are really worth. Below are some recently completed auctions showing what people actually paid for a model T...

Could it be that some of the prices reflect condition of the car. For instance the motor is in such condition that you couldn’t go to the end of the street and back with it. Or it has been in a museum somewhere for an extended period of time because it was a place for the owner to park it till he could afford to repair the mechanicals, but he finally lost interest, but the outside is beautiful. Or, it has been restored with all new wood by a gardener with a machete that you cannot see because the upholstery has been reapplied, like that beautiful 16 centerdoor on this website that we are so riveted to watch its progress back to reality. Or maybe the seller just wants to get rid of it because he is moving to smaller quarters or out of state or in the process of a divorce and needs the money and makes someone a great deal. There a lot of wonderful and honest people selling model T’s or some other antique cars but there are ten times as many deceitful cruel individuals knowingly misrepresenting and passing off shady vehicles to the unknowing poor sap that sees a beautiful picture on eBay and tears his hair out when the transport delivers the bundle of garbage to him. I am sure Trader Jim can tell us some pretty wonderful and awful stories of happy and disappointed buyers. Sorry for the rant, just some of my ideas. Frank

I would hope that buyers had the opportunity to look at the cars and actually talked to the buyers in some way before they bought off of Ebay. But when you have deep pockets to go into and click the computer to buy without looking that may or may not be a good thing.
There are deals certainly to be had for sure but unfortunately it’s not always that way.

One thing I noticed is that the newer T’s sold for more than the brass era cars. The 27 must have been a really shape car. But then again it’s probably pretty close to what you would spend to build one like it.
