Wow!! Steve caught up with us! And even had time to eat his ice cream!

I hope you meant to type 136? 36 is down south in Parke County.

Yep. As much as I've traveled on US 36 I should have remembered that. Correction made.

This time it's the same road all the way, sort of. Coming north out of Veedersburg it's Indiana Avenue which becomes CR 60 E and also Shalepit road, then turns into CR 50 E (also Shalepit road), and we end at the intersection with Stone Bluff Road. I expect the next episode will include the initials O.P. :)

Everyone has been pretty quiet. Is anyone still awake? Do we need to make pit stop?

#10 goes north into Stone Bluff, west on Osborn Prairie Road, and ends going north on CR 140 W.

#11 continues north on CR 140 W which makes a little jog west and becomes CR 160 W. Then we turn west on CR 450 N. After crossing CR 250 W we've been here before. The episode ends just as we turn off the road and head north through the field.

In #12 we go north and west through the fields and woods and end at the cabin under the trees.

I think #13 takes us west through the woods and over the fields to CR 400 W, then south. The trouble with that theory is that landmarks in the video and the satellite view seem to differ.

Man, this is tough. On a cloudy day with no shadows to give directions I'm not sure where I am. We end up going north on CR 250 W, but I don't know how we got there.

In #15 the big barns and the Harvestore confirm CR 250 W, then west on Scout Camp Road to where it turns north near Bear Creek.
The inevitable often happens.

In #13 we headed back the same way that we came in. Back to CR W450N and we turn back east and end at CR N250W.

In #14 we end at Portland Arch Nature Preserve on W Scout Camp Rd.

Has anyone identified the other driver yet?

"Everyone has been pretty quiet. Is anyone still awake? Do we need to make pit stop?"

Trust us Scott, if anybody needs to make a pit stop, you will hear about it !

I'll share a little revelation while riding along. I generally keep the volume on my computer turned way down because of occasional loud commercials. Since we're social distancing on these drives I didn't feel any need to turn the volume up. But I was very wrong ! With more audio we can hear all the lovely sounds of a Model T under way. Hearing the soft clatter of the undercarriage and all the subtle moans and groans of the transmission makes the experience even better. I especially like to hear the quiet of a well executed shift from LO to HI.

Another observation: The wide angle camera that you are using makes it appear that you are going faster than you really are. At first, I tended to lean into the turns because I thought you were going to fast to make a change in direction. Now that I'm accustomed to your driving, I'll have to be careful to slow down properly when I make turns in my own car.

Scott, in re-reading my prior post I realized that it may have sounded in the last paragraph like I was criticizing your camera or your driving. I didn't mean it that way.

I do realize that wide angle movies distort the perception of speed and distance. I just get into looking at all the scenery going by and forget that I'm not really there.

No, you are fine. I have tried different setting on the field of view, all with the same result. I think it is a GoPro playback problem. I have read online that others are experiencing the same effect. I tried to slow down the video in my editor, but then the sound is distorted. Plus, the next speed down is 80% and that is too slow.

Back the way we came, jolly is the game.

I've been away, so I have some catching up to do. In #16 we leave the park and head back south and then east on Scout Camp Road. I never noticed that little cemetery before. Toward the end we go south on CR 250 W and then turn east on CR 580 N.

#17 takes us east, south, east to Brown's Cemetery, south again, east, and finally south on CR 160 W, and stopping in moisture.

More later. Bed time.

Well, I have been working 7 days a week since Memorial Day. So, I have not had time to make any new videos. But, I have been driving the coupe everyday, only about 2 or 3 miles. As soon as I get the time I will do another drive. Just like Willy, I can't wait to get on the road again!!

I wonder how old that rail car is? Who built it? How long has it been there? What it took to get it there? It would make a decent greenhouse. How many Model T parts could you fit in it!!

I haven't been taking the time to follow the map lately, but I'm riding along. This one is familiar territory: west in the alley, south (with a California stop at Garfield) to the edge of town, over to 850 W, down to 200N, west into the next county and north on Scottsdale a bit, then west a bunch more. Notice the big difference in the scenery since last spring? Lots of tall corn.

Steve, Thanks for chiming in! I have been wondering if you were still riding along with us? All of that tall green corn has dried to a golden brown and most of it has been harvested. The leaves are turning and falling. The scenery is getting more open again.

Yes, it was very close!! Luckily, I had recently adjusted the bands. I didn't think that I was going to get stopped. I throttled down, applied the brake and held on to the wheel! There was no where to steer away either with that concrete on the right there. The engine didn't even stall. I just pushed the pedal into low and continued on.

Every time I go for a ride with you, Scott, I'm struck by the dense stands of trees and the wide open crop lands. I'm guessing the early pioneers didn't find the land like that when they arrived. Somebody did an awful lot of stump pulling with teams of mules or oxen.

Our predecessors were not afraid of hard work.

I'm guessing the early pioneers didn't find the land like that when they arrived.

Yes, the temperate forest originally covered nearly all the eastern part of North America. One writer said a squirrel could have crossed Pennsylvania going from tree to tree, without ever having to descend to the ground. That included the Northwest Territory states of Ohio and Indiana. Most of the open land there has been cleared of forest. Farther west the change has been in the other direction. When settlers came to the treeless plains my great grandfather took a wagon a hundred miles down to the Cimarron River in I.T. to bring back cedar saplings for the new cemetery. Now there are companies in the business of clearing encroaching cedars out of pastures. Fifty years ago the wood lot that supplies heat in my house was open pasture with no trees.

The difference this time is tall field corn and milo (?). Can't make out enough detail to be sure about the latter. We're back to the place in the woods between Rattlesnake and Bear creeks.

One thing I'm noticing in these drives is the absence of stop signs at most intersections. Doesn't that take an awful lot of common sense to drive in the midwest ?

There are stop signs everywhere. However most are only 2 way stops. They do have 4 way stops at busy intersections.

Thank you for posting these drives, Scott. I like the scenery, but I'm finding that I like the sounds even more. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the quiet thrumming on flat ground in high gear at around 15 or 20 MPH. Just loafing along, very smooth and quiet. My car makes that same contented sound.

On the second watching, I just close my eyes and listen.

The early morning back lighting doesn't allow sign reading, but it looks like CR 300N east of Stone Bluff with a little jog north at US 41.

It must take a real Model T fan to sit around watching hours of someone else's through-the-windshield videos of him driving around in his car in the middle of nowhere.

So, now that I've sat around for hours watching all the videos... LOL
Thank you, Scott, for doing this because, like everybody else, I miss driving and tours, too! Your videos really are the next best thing to being there and you guys picked out some great roads.

How about showing off your Go Pro camera and the mounting bracket/suction cup rig??

Yes, that is the camera that I have. I have been filming in 1080P at 60FPS. I have not tried using 4K. I am wondering if less FPS would work better while driving through the shaded areas. At 60FPS, it does get a little blurry as the light changes. It may also be in the white setting. I used auto and maybe should use a manual setting?

Here are couple of videos from one of my Baja trips driving across the dry lake bed just north of San Felipe. It shows how well the digital image stabilization works.

Ah, memories! The dry lake in Baja takes me back to 1970 when my buddy Herb and I went down Federal Highway 1 to Bahia de Los Angeles in my formerly Border Patrol Jeep wagon.

In those days the pavement ended at El Rosario. The next three hundred miles were not just unpaved. Most of the road was not even graded. It was just a track made by vehicles driving over it.

The smoothest part of the road was where it crossed another dry lake, Laguna Chapala. Just call me dusty.

We camped on the beach at Bahia de Los Angeles for a week. During that time we saw one other car, when some local guys came out to fish. This would nave been a great Model T trip, but it was many years before I ever thought of buying a T.
The inevitable often happens.

We have done several Baja trips over the years using pickup trucks, Unimogs, RZR's. I have been to Bahia de Los Angeles many times. It is usually our first, or second stop. They have some of the best Sea Food Cocktails in that little restaurant! It is not the same down there any more, as most towns, not all, have electricity now! That video is from 2019. That year we parked the trucks and trailers at Veronica's, just outside of Mexicali and headed south, all the way to Cabo. 9 guys, 3 RZR's and 5 motorcycles. We did the whole enchilada! We hired a semi truck to haul everything back north and we flew back up.
