Have any of you good folks out there ever attempted to or better yet, had a positive outcome in replacing the rear spring U-bolts under a closed car, such as a Centerdoor without lifting the body ??????

Steve,
Help a guy do this some years back, very tight. I do not remember what year his was. As I remember, we had to migrate it down to a certain point to roll it out.
Hope this Helps,
Hank

Loosen the bolts, lube it with WD 40 so it will slide easier, slide it down enough so it will roll off.

Appreciate the guidance, fellas ! I'm attempting to install an accessory spare wire wheel (Buffalo) mount that attaches to & with the original u-bolts BUT they're too short !!!
I have some 9 leave u-bolts that will do the trick but was trying to figure out the scenario - factory rear spare carrier arms needs to be removed in order to "slide" the u-bolt down towards each corner - man, is tight in there !
I lubed them up John and can manipulate them around.

Under my touring it was a piece of cake. I am surprised a closed car is that hard. Now I need to do it under my speedster and I might need to disconnect the body. Wish you luck.
