Anyone in the Hill Country (I’m in Comfort-40 miles W of SA on IH10, and I’ll drive a couple hours!) have a KR Wilson magneto and flywheel gap gauge I can borrow for a couple days? I’ll come to you, and deliver it back in a day or two! Just finished recharging magnets, measuring spools and making sure magnets are N-S around the ring and I’d like to make things easier on myself as I start the “tranny on-tranny off” gap measuring process. I’ve been faithfully home quarantining with just the wife and dog, I’ll socially distance correctly and even pick it up outside your shop and leave it there and I’ll I’ll even throw in a Whataburger gift card for the privilege!
If anyone has an equally easy way to determine magnet plate height around the flywheel with a different method, I’ll try that too!

When you do, set the ring on (unbolted with no shimms) the. Set the flywheel on when the magnets already set and let the magnetism draw them together. Measure the gap between the ring and block. Should make for an easier time setting proper gap without having to lug the flywheel on and off too many times.

Rob, you can use a dial indicator too. I’ve made a ‘transmission lift’ tool you can use. It’s essentially 3 chain lengths connected with a ring on the lift end and hooks for the flywheel end. When the engine is vertical-nose down- it makes it easier to lift the tranny numerous times
I don’t know why I turned out this way. My parents were decent people.

Yup, been looking at Mike's videos. Wish I had all his equipment to balance and set up a tranny like he’s able to do. Just have to trust that Henry’s design and construction still perform like they should!

LOL, great write up, and I HAD researched and read it when I sent out my plea for the tool (which in the end you recommend to use 
). But I was close to doing a lot of things I have read about here. My favorite part is the tool was only a 60 mile round trip for you to get, heck, it’s a 40 mile round trip for me to get serious groceries or a hardware box store! I’d make that trip, but all is good, one is coming in the mail! Thanks to all!
