Im installing the radiator on the speedster project. It seems with my fan and other things a 27 inch belt is almost too shrot and a 28 inch fan belt is almost too long. The 27 inch will allow the fan to turn but the blades only clear the lower hose by about 1/8 inch. The 28 inch belt allows plenty of room for the fan but the belt just barely rubs on the Bosch front plate distributor housing. I really need a 27-1/2 inch belt (or close)

I have a "clipper belt lacing tool" and could cut and splice a belt using the "clipper" metal splices but Im unsure how well they would work on a automobile fan belt. I use them on my flat belt machine tools and hit miss engines ect, but have never used one a car.

Any ideas on where to find a 27-1/2 inch belt. The micro V belts would also work for me. Thanks

I solved a Speedster belt problem by using the long fan mount bracket. I reduced the fan pulley diameter to clear the timing rod.

Russ Furstnow can make you a really nice sewn leather fan belt of the length you need,

You can get really close with a Dayco belt nowadays Don!!
Dad's name was Don so it stuck.
I cut an inch out of a belt from the parts store. Stitched it back together with stainless wire, for an old lathe... Slow.

I tried using the "size" search feature of the belt manufacturers. All I'm finding in the 27-1/2 inch range is narrow belts. They are only about 3/4 to 15/16 inch wide. Ill contact Russ and see what he can do. I also had our local parts stores look for me. They also only found narrow belts in the length I need. Thanks for the info.

I seem to recall a spring loaded, pulley type, fan belt tensioner used to be available for the Model T. If they are still and you can find one, that might be the solution. Jim Patrick
