Guess I’ll go first...

Generator gear pin... and it’s not all chewed up... so I’ll say in the elbow of the inside oil line...?😬

Perfect guess Kevin. Only I found it in the front lip of the pan! How lucky is that? As some know I have been working on a buddy's 27 Tudor to get it road worthy. It came from a museum collection. He has has it 2 years and never heard it run. By all the crumbly grease in the cups and wheel bearings, its been sitting a looonng time. After replacing and rebuilding a badly bent front axle and fixing the loose rear spring and fixing damage caused by that, the normal stuff has been gone through. The car ran really well after cleaning coil contacts and draining old gas out, but it had a rattle in the front of the engine that came and went. I went aroung the engine with a broom handle and could not find it. Thought maybe a bearing in the generator.

Well I knew the generator was not working. I flashed it and still nothing. I have a rebuild on the shelf so I was removing the generator and when I pulled it off the gear slid off the front in my hand. I knew I was going fishing!!! I installed the new generator and headed for the oil pan. I would rather be lucky than good any day!!!

While cleaning the inspection pan, I found a cotter pin stuck in the gunk in one of the dips. I checked all the rods and they are all there. Another dodged bullet ! I have yet to pull the cover on hogs head since everything works as it should but I think I need to peek inside. With all the other things that were missing cotter pins I will feel much better. Need to look at bands anyway.
