John, I also have a rear axle stand. It is being delivered from Colorado to Arkansas as we type.

Most KR Wilson big tools or machines I have seen are painted red or grey. Red seems to be Model A or V-8 era tools. Grey (battle ship grey) was used in the T era. Black was used on small tools. Crinkle black was used later in the late 40s 50s era for some small tools. All the valve grinder machines I have seen were red. The roll around tool stands have also been red. But they came out in the Model A era.
As to the rear axle stands, I think they actually came out in the Model A era. I have not seen any info for them before the Model A era catalogs. So more than likely they were red. The round crank handles may have been black ???. The drip pans were probably in un-painted galvanized sheet metal. I plan on painting mine red with black trim.
Please post some pictures of your axle stand. Ill post some photos of mine when it arrives,

I have a large amount of NOS KRW A and V-8 tools and the red rustoleum is pretty darn close to the KRW red. Some T era KRW tools are also green, at least my magneto gap tool is green, and its never been repainted.

I forgot about the green. My gap gauge is also green. It is the only green tool I have. But I do remember seeing some model A tools (mostly pullers) that were green. As to the larger "floor model " tools. I have only seen red and battleship grey colors on what appeared to be original paint tools. . Most of my original big tools were red, except for my combination machine, and it was battleship grey. I also use the Rustoleum red , it is very close.
While I have been collecting T stuff over 35 year, I do not claim to be an expert , They are just my personal observations thu the years. So there could be variations thru the years.

Here's a couple of my KRW tools that don't appear to have been repainted.
