The first one looks like none other than Harry Lauder! Before he became Sir Harry Lauder.
True Scotsmen are torn between loving and hating the man. He was loved by many, his songs, folk histories, and such. Others thought he clowned around too much, undignified. Certainly, he capitalized on his heritage,and became famous in his own right.
And,maybe that isn't him. But I think it is him.

Look at the top photo carefully. It appears the felloe on the lf wheel is striped.

I agree, Larry. Spokes are striped as well.

As Wayne posted above, the first photo is of Harry Lauder.

It is a well known photograph, taken in Los Angeles. The original negative is in the possession of the Ford Motor Co. or Henry Ford Museum. There are better prints available.

The car in the 2nd photo wears a 1914 IL license plate, with the slots in the plate, for mounting in front of the radiator.
