Wood spokes QUESTION

I Have a wood wheel with the spokes painted black , i like to scrape the paint off, could the paint have lead in it ?
or was it only painted with enamel [looks original the wheel] but hen again its old ..

Unless it's been painted with house paint I wouldn't imagine it has lead in it. If you're worried about it then use paint stripper. That way it won't make dust, but then scraping shouldn't produce much fine dust anyway. You could also wear a respirator, which is now high fashion anyway!

It's never a good idea to breathe any dust, with or without lead. If you're concerned with lead, it's the lead element that is inhaled along with any dust that you would be most concerned with. Beside inhalation, and assuming you don't eat any paint chips containing lead, (unlikely?), you have little to fear from lead. All that being said, I'm doubting you'll have any lead to contend with.

I think they make testing kits for lead paint. They probably at Home Depot.
