1927 T Coupe Windsield Hinge Rubber

I am helping a buddy restore his T Coupe. Our problem is with the windshield hinge weather stripping.

We don't know how it is supposed to fit. We don't know if it is supposed to slide in to the rail or if it lays flat on top and we punch holes for the 1/4 x 20 screws.

How does it fit?

Thank you for any input.

I have attached some pics.
1. Hinge with out weather stripping.
2. Hinge with weather stripping started in the channel.
3. Hinge with weather stripping laying flat on top.

I need the same thing. May I ask where you got the rubber strip from. I wish I could help.

My '26 Coupe only has rubber down the sides and along the bottom. I don't get leaks along the top because of the hinge.

Yup, it goes on sides and bottom only. Hard to see from your picture, but am not sure you have the right seal for a closed car windshield.

I tried this on my 26 coupe it made the windshield too low and wouldn't close.I took it off and the w/s works just fine.I can't say about leaks because I am still reassembling it.Just my experience.

Have the rubber on the sides and the bottom. There is also a seal that goes on top of the windshield hinge.I don't know if we are using the wrong rubber seal or not. He got it from MAC's.
But, yea, there is a seal that is supposed to be used.

Can someone post a photo of theirs with the rubber gasket on the hinge?

Dave: My original '26 coup does not have a seal on the top hinge, the visor apparently gives some protection keeping most water out. If anything were sandwiched between the hinge and body my windshield would not close, it's a tight fit as it is. best, jb
