Unusual Spark Plug

Today I was able to purchase this Chicago BiPlug. It is for a vehicle that chronically fouls the plugs. Solution is to just pull the plug and flip it over. For all you Spark Plug experts, how rare is this?

I'm not a plug collector per se, but I have picked up a pretty good variety of old plugs at swap meets, and I've never seen one of these.
The inevitable often happens.

I would say it is unusual but not rare. There were several different brands that manufactured the same style plug. I've got a couple different types. It's a neat find, and a 'must-have' type for most any plug collector. I hope that helps.

I agree Kevin, I'm not into Jackalopes but I had to have this one when I saw it. The orange cap has a brass contact the touches the electrode when in the correct position. Definitely evidence of having been used.

Thanks for posting - I've collected plugs a long time and have several varieties of those double ended plugs in my collection. They are oddities for sure and are sought after by plug collectors. Here is an example of a very early one with a mica window in the removable cap. It's done that way so you can actually see the spark jump. Theoretically when the spark jumps an air gap, it actually intensifies the spark. Supposedly that would help burn off any deposits. Looks like it's in pretty nice condition with the original cap.
