Please Grampa ?

Today is my youngest grand daughters birthday. I had many chores to get done today as she had a small party last weekend. So I went about getting things done and had a meeting after noon with a customer. My grand daughter called from dads phone and wanted me to take them for icecream in the big green truck for her birthday. I told here I hadn't got it out of the barn or even started it this year. PLEASE GRAMPA ! Well that was settled, the chores were just going to have to wait. I came home from my meeting emptied the stuff stored in the bed, checked all fluids, oiled her up and turned on the fuel. She turned about 3 times and was ready to please. I did not have time to give her a bath as Grandma has to work tonight, so she went with bird droppings ,dust, straw and all.

Looks like a great day. Wonderful photos. I have to say that the seat design for your truck is the best I've ever seen. Thank you for showing us the day.

Great to see someone with a nice TT truck. I really like them, but have no room! You did a wonderful thing for those kids.

I even had to tighten the bolts on the rear fender I made this winter. Glad I checked tire pressure or I may have missed that detail. Geez, I need to get those finished to.

It's good to see you have your priorities in the right place. They will remember those rides as very special occasions. I know I have some of those kinds of memories.
Thanks for reminding me.

That fold-out seating on the truck bed is really swell!

Thanks guys. The grandkids are in love with it. That makes grampa happy. You see 3 kids in the photo but mom is due any day with number 4. I think she was hoping that bumpy ride in the TT would speed things up a bit. :D

If you ever get a chance to go thru northern Indiana you need to stop and see what a super duper job Dallas did on that truck. Probably better than the manuf did. He might even bring it to OCF again and you can see all kinds of cars and trucks.

That is about the BEST way I have ever seen to move a passel of little kids around! I can see why they want to go for rides! That's like a truck full of bunnies!

Also, believe me, those kids will carry that memory with them for years.
One day, when one of them is sitting in the state senate, looking at a bill to ban these "hazardous old cars" from the road, they will just crumple it up, and toss it in the wastebasket.
Rides like this are what ensures the future of our hobby. Even if none of those kids winds up with a Model T (not likely, I would think) if and when their spouse or significant other mentions buying a Model T, that spouse will be surprised to get agreement, instead of an argument.
I give as many rides as I can.
Teenagers are often very shy around adults, but if they extend themselves to asking questions, I take that as a sign they are REALLY interested. A ride only takes 10 minutes, but it lasts a lifetime!

I guess my secret is out now Bill! You are right on the money. Those kids are growing up with old cars as I did. When they ask for rides and really enjoy it, that tells me its working. It doesnt matter if its icecream or a ride around the block or down the farm lane. We have fun. A couple years ago on Christmas we were going to take a ride in the pickup. It was cold and snowing and got late so it was dark. The older girl backed out but Chloe the youngest was going to go no matter what.

We didnt go but a 1/2 mile and it was totally dark but she was waving out the window the entire way as if it was a parade. They all like sledding in the pasture.
