Ohio Jamboree

We have decided to pull the plug on the Jamboree this year since eight people where making it happen but we are not a club. We all belong to different clubs but it would not be sanctioned from MTFCA or MTFCI if any restriction are on in the state of Ohio. June , July will be to late to make arrangements. We thought about just having a driving tour but it would not help next years tour for fund raising from the auction, and no Banquet from the social distancing. So see every one next year, Thanks Joe Bell

Well Joe, I certainly understand, but as I'm sure you can guess, my heart is kinda broken over it. Would have been my 29th O'jam... but next year it will be!!!
(I'll have to break the news to cousin George, my navigator & co-pilot)
I might just drive the T down to Ohio anyway and do my own Jamboree!!!!

Hi Donald. It's an annual tour, always in a different town on Ohio. Usually a 2 or 3 day tour on Labor Day weekend. Been going on since maybe 1990? I've been to all but the first 2 and have driven my T from the Detroit area to all except last year's, (stupid back problems!). I bring along my cousin who is an excellent navigator for the trip. It's a wonderful group of people who attend. They always seem to be happy to see those "boys from Michigan", as Bud Scudder used to call us, and I'm always happy to see them. Please keep your ears open for the Jamboree next year and join us!!

Well, if someone could find a T in a mine shaft I guess it would have been Bud. I miss him too... Good to Ginny once in while however.

Perhaps sometime we could host the Ohio Jamboree in Ashtabula County and visit the longest covered bridge in the USA at 613 feet. Many covered bridges to see and other places of interest.

Perry, would love to have it up there in your neck of the woods, been talking that for years but no one wants to plan it up there and I am not from that area, Geneva on the lake, wine country, you would have all the wives wanting this trip!

Joe,
I'll be in contact with you off line at some point to see what I can do to make something happen. I've never done anything like that but I'm not afraid to try it. The most that can happen is that everyone would have a terrible time and hate me. I would need a lot of guidance. What date would we be thinking of 2022?

We went to Ashtabula with some friends one year with our Model Ts. They have 19 bridges in all including the shortest and the longest in the USA. It was great to see all the bridges. Jamboree is always Labor Day weekend.
FYI The Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival is held the 2nd weekend in October. Several bridges had food and/or crafts and stuff for sale.

The covered bridge festival was cancelled this year too, as was the Walleye and Wine festival, Grape Jamboree, and several other events. Perhaps we can get a gathering of cars when things settle down. The Ohio Jamboree could be held here and as I stated before I have a lot to learn on how to go about hosting it.
