Just checking if anyone has purchased a 1913/1914 "Mr Roadsrer" windshield that Speedway Motors sells? Their add says it's an exact reproduction, is it really? The windshield frame with the channel isn't that much more than just the channel.... especially if the channel already has the bends in it. It's supposed to be made in the U.S.

Nope neighbor! (I'm in N.Central Ohio!)....but, if they're made in the good ol' USA they can't be all bad, can they??

My fuzzy memory remembers my 1909 windshield from a popular T vendor in the 1990s coming in a box marked "Mr. Roadster". If so, these may be the same windshield everyone is selling.
Any better information?

I’m just not sure of getting a correct windshield from a street rod shop... I guess I’ll give it a try and see what UPS drops off at my door.

Tim, Yes, I can return it. I haven't ordered it yet. I had a good conversation with their "Street Rod" specialist.... he agreed their drawing of the windshield wasn't very helpful. He's going to open one up and send me some pictures of the real thing. Their frame with the channel comes to $309.00 with free shipping.. The "T" venders are asking $265.00 plus shipping for just the channel. I figure for another $44.00 I can get a whole new setup and have the brass channel already bent. From what I've read on here from people who have bent the channel that alone is worth $44.00. One question I do have is can the channel be finessed enough to get 1/4" safety glass to fit in the 3/16"slot? Would opening up the slot a little in the frame help allow the brass channel to open a little wider?

David, that's a good question. I had my local glass shop do that, and it worked okay. Maybe touch base with them first.
Is your car a 13 or 14? As you saw above I suspect, a guy in CA has a 14 windshield to part with, I'm assuming he means
top and bottom...May wanna check into that first if you haven't already.

in classified, I list a pair of 1914 windshield supports and hinges.

If Pete has a windshield, I would go that way first. If you are wanting to make a show windshield Speedways is what I would use. There will be more work involved, but you can wind up with a flawless piece. Speedway purchased the windshield business from Mr. Roadster many years ago and have expanded the product line and also make specialized windshields with minimum order thresholds. And yes you can get safety glass to fit. Just my 2 cents.
