A steel Hayes wheel. That's all I know :(

I picked a pair of these up at an auction several years ago. I've since blasted, primed, and painted. Ideally I'd like to find two more to make a full set, but first I need to learn what type of rim and lugs are required. Save yourselves a lot of typing... Pictures is a thousand words

Wow on the cool factor! I have seen sets of other brands like Atlas, but I think these are a first.

I have one of those!
Picked it up at Hershey years ago when the Green Field was un-paved. Must have had a 2 mile hike back to the truck and that thing weighs a TON!
Mine still has the front hub installed, but like yours...no rim.

Does a standard Hayes 23" demountable rim fit on it? Very cool. Looks similar to the Parker steel wheels.

I'm not sure if I have a standard Hayes 23". Would you mind sharing a photo?
Howard, I assume the front hub is the T hubs right? I started to slide slide a refurbished one in but backed off to not scratch either as I was not ready to bolt everything up.

Hello Ryan,
It looks like a standard T hub, but I have never taken it apart to check it.
Chris,
I also have some Parker-Hydraulic steel wheels. The Parkers spokes are made of pressed steel and the wheels don't have a fellow that stays with the spokes. The Hayes spokes are cast (steel or iron) and have the typical demountable fellow attached (fellow is riveted to the spokes). The Hayes do weigh a lot!

That felloe is marked Hayes and has the notches for the Hayes fixed lug clincher rims, those are std. T supplied rims, and very easy to find. 30" x 3 1/2".
Haynes demountable rim on Hayes notched felloe.
Haven't seen any details on that solid 6 spoke wheel you have, maybe the mfg. wasn't Hayes, but the company bought Hayes rims to rivet to their wheel product, would be reasonable to have a common T felloe.
Did find this type, but 8-spoke, and a later ad that had this wheel without a center hub and drum. Maybe the mfg. of yours perhaps came out with a even lighter 6-spoke ??

Thank you for your input Dan. I'll looking for the clinchers you recommend and hope for a happy marriage!

I have had one of these wheels for years. It was in the back seat of a 1924 Tudor that I purchased. I have not been able to identify the manufacturer, other than the Hayes name on the rim. The center spokes are riveted to the rim and are cast or forged steel. One the back side of the casting is the number B-AA-177. I hope this helps,
