Re: Member Email Hack !!!
Perhaps "Hack" isn't the exact term for what's taking place. Someone has "spoofed" the member's email address and is just using it as a way to get someone to open it up, respond or click on at attachment. Nobody is actually using his computer or email account to actually send email from. If you look closely at the email address you received the suspect email from, there will probably be some small difference between that and the correct one.

Re: Member Email Hack !!!
Guys, I am well aware of my email problems, and I regret any trouble it has caused any of you. Its sure causing me grief. Because its easier to contact The White House than Microsoft or Yahoo, all that I have been able to do thus far, is change my password on my email account. What the last poster said about spoofing my account is probably more correct. The hacker, (which I've traced to Vietnam) not only harvested and removed all my contacts on my contact list, but also, apparently, has been able to redirect any incoming emails, including spam, to another account that he or she created on Microsoft Outlook email. I may have to close my current Yahoo account and open a new account. As soon as I can figure out if I can save and transfer all the emails that are left on my current account to a new email account, then that is what I will probably have to do. If any of you are computer "techies" and know how I can do this, contact me here and I''ll give you my phone number. DON'T send me an email as it will go straight to the hacker's account. I haven't received any email (even spam) in over 24 hours and that, alone, is enough to tell me that I have a big problem. Can I save all my email to zip drive; open a new email account and then import the email from the zip drive?

Start with reading these:
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/download-emai ... 28681.html
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN5033.html
I've had a Yahoo account for 20 years and need to do this myself. It's a lousy system that I only use for junk registrations anymore. You won't miss it.
Before I posted what I thought was a tutorial but it was actually promoting 3rd party software. It may be fine stuff but I didn't want to imply that you need to buy something.
Good luck!

Re: Member Email Hack !!!
When I got an email from "Terry" I played the game just for fun, but I'm not going to waste my time on it any further. I have other things to do. Any more will just be deleted.

Re: Member Email Hack !!!
To every forum member who has read this and to everyone who has my email address, a BIG Thank You to Walter Higgins, above. My Yahoo email account is fixed and once again restored. My email contact list was able to be retreived from the hacker, but all emails sent to me in the last 2 or 3 days, were not. They are lost, forever, but at least my email account is secure, so if you have my Yahoo email address and have ever emailed me, rest assured that it is OK to email me again. Thanks again, Mr. Walter Higgins.

Re: Member Email Hack !!!
Glad to hear you sorted it out quick, Terry. Did you go ahead and backup your emails to another drive in the event this happens again? I still need to do that myself while things are stable so I can do it on my own terms rather than be under the gun if a catastrophe hits and I might be coming to you for advice if I can't figure it out!

Re: Member Email Hack !!!
No, Walter, I haven't but I'm going to. If anyone has a Yahoo account and ever has trouble with it, Yahoo has an account support service called Yahoo Account Pro Support which can be reached at eight hundred,35one, 56ten. It costs $4.95 a month and you can cancel at any time, but in my case it was worth it. They had all my problems fixed and the account secured in 5 minutes.

Re: Member Email Hack !!!
The same thing happened to me a few months ago. I think I'm ok now, but it was a pain in the butt for awhile. I wonder what makes people do this? Too much idle time?

Re: Member Email Hack !!!
(Original), any hacker who hacks another persons email; harvests that person's contact list, and then sends out emails to al your contacts asking for money or gift cards, is doing it for the money. They usually reside in poorer countries such as Vietnam, and supplement, or live on the income from hacking. Sure, if they don't have a honest job, they have plenty of time on their hands.
