Suggestions: moving a car with no engine.

I’m going to be pulling the engine in my 24 Runabout for an overhaul. Due to limited space in the shop, I’m going to have to move the rest of the car to another location while the engine is being worked on. My question is this: With the engine out, should I be concerned about the front and rear axles not having that solid link to the center of the car? The storage location is far enough away that I’ll be trailering the car. Should I plan on installing the engine pan back in or will tying up the wishbone and torque tube to the chassis be enough to move it?

As long as you are trailering it, nothing should be needed, as the only movement will be loading and unloading on and off of a trailer. Towing with the wheels on the ground may be different.

I don’t have a Model T image handy - but I transported this Model A Belly Tank Racer to the CEO of J.D Powers outside of Chicago last year.

I secured it at the rear axle & front tires which were pulled to the center.

This keeps the vehicle from being pulled apart.

I use this method on Model T’s and Early Brass Cars but I usually secure to the wheels using padded axle straps.

Yep. Tie up the torque tube so it won't drag, same with wishbone, and don't forget the dangling steering drag link

Do you have another oil pan ? You can bolt up your torque tube and wish bone. That’s what I did it worked out great for moving the T around.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I thought I was in the clear for moving it, but figured I’d better check first. I’ll be sure to tie up the loose dangling bits and then strap it down to the trailer front to back and back to front.
