Good evening everyone, my starter on my 1915 gave up. Any suggestions on who can do a rebuild? Thank you for your input.

Both my 1915s have "Arm Strong" starters. They tend to work better some days than others. ;)

To start with, get the MTFCA electrical book. Lots of good info on starters and generators in there. I have rebuilt both generators and starters, and its actually kinda fun and educational. All the components you will need are available from the vendors. One thing I do is to replace the starter or generator armature with a good rewound one. These units are in some cases over 100 years old. Insulation breaks down, stack laminations shift and short them out. I use Custom Rewinding LLC in Brook Park, MN (320-679-4739) to do mine. Send them the core, and for $150 plus shipping you get back the most gorgeous piece of electrical equipment you've ever seen. Do the job right and it will last for decades.
