Old Photo - Early T With Odd Looking Bumper
Does this odd looking bumper make the car look taller in front or is it just my eyes playing tricks on me? Look at the clearance between the tires and the front fenders. Or is it just the angle of the picture?

The photo is a little distorted and the extra weight in the rear of the car may be lifting the front up. Photo angles and lens distortion play tricks as well as the angle of the camera to the photo when taking a picture of it.
When did I do that?

Looks like a Ohio 1914 plate on a new '14.
Victor carbide generator and E&J headlights.
Probably Victor side lamps too but definitely not E&J.
Thank you for the photo!

What Richard E says is quite true. And, there is one other thing. Looking closely at the front axle, that car has the "tower spring" shock absorbers on it. Some of those (including this set) hold the front spring about two inches higher than the standard issue Ford perches.
That is the style of front shock absorbers that should NEVER be used on a model T that is going to be driven. Their design creates a very dangerous stability issue at speeds above about fifteen miles per hour. A few years ago, two different people, in two different accidents, were killed in cars with those shock absorbers. In both cases, the accident probably would not have happened if the front end had been kept Ford stock.
I do like that bumper though!
