Original 1913 KW Coil Box

Post by Original Smith » Sat Jul 04, 2020 2:38 pm

There is a discussion on an aftermarket KW Switch today. Here are some photos of an authentic original KW Box that I've had for years, and started restoring it a month ago, with Randall Andersons guidance. I've rebuilt a half dozen of them over the years, but have never refinished one. I used Minwax Helmsman spar varnish, and put 5 coats on it, sanding each coat as I progressed. Enjoy the photos!

Beautiful work, sir! Thank you for sharing... it’s basically a work of art 100+ years down the road.

It would be fun and inexpensive to have reproductions of that label of instruction pasted inside the box lid. Is there any interest ?

Matter of fact, yes; I've been working on it awhile. Will reproduce them when it is as close to perfect as I can get it.

Larry, your switch looks great as does the rest of the box.
Great job!
