Hopefully better pix as well - I think the "gorilla" on the running board is supposed to (maybe) be blanking out someone sitting there?

Is the victim known to anyone on the forum? It would take a knowledgeable person to drive it away.

I don't know, but when it's totally restored, it really increases the value of the car exponentially. You know as well as any Model T guy that a half-restored side gear shift is no better than a completely unrestored one, worse perhaps....

It is better buying full restored or not restored at all. Half way restored is the worst scenario... I learnt it by the hard way. Lol

My side gear shift is connected to my new flux capacitor. I am still trying to get 100 mph or of my speedster. I have been unsuccessful so far but hoping my dad one will help.

David Walker has a side shifter on his speedster. And, an under shifter, an over shifter, and probably 1 or 2 shifters that I don't know about. Can't anyone call David...... "Shiftless".

I haven't revealed the other shifters to Bill because he's afraid to fly -- he won't ride with me

My side shifter aka e-brake handle is fully restored with two springs and three coats of black rustoleum.

And for those who don't know, David has an app on his i-phone that keeps up with what gear that thing is in at any given moment.

This whole thread is getting kinda shifty...

How do you guys prevent a stolen Model T? A shoe brake?

Most stolen model Ts seem to be stored in enclosed trailers. The SOBs steel the trailer to use for some illegal use (meth labs, hiding or transporting dope or other stolen goods or materials). Sometimes, the model T will be found dumped off the side of a highway days or weeks later. How to drive a model is so alien to modern thinking that most people cannot figure out how to drive it, let alone start it. Many T owners leave keys in them at shows, tours, or other meets without any problems. I actually do not recommend doing that myself. Some public are simply so stupid and full of self entitlement that they have been known to mess around with other people's antiques at shows. The risk of their doing damage is enough for me to pocket my antique's key, if it has one. On the other hand, I have had antiques that did not have a removable key. And I never worried about it.

Yes, I have known people who leave the key in the car. Their argument is, "They can't steal the car. They won't know how to drive it." My answer is, "They can't steal the car, but they can steal the key."

There are plenty of jerks in the world. Why help them steal things?

I don't leave the key in my T because I'm afraid that some a*****e will steal the key, not the car.
I hope that the Ts owner gets it back in one piece.

I caught someone trying to take the motometer off the radiator of the car while I was inside paying for gas, he was trying to pull it up by the dogbone cap. As soon as he saw me coming like a pissed off doberman at him he bolted... but yeah, people have not a clue.

I also had someone steal a fairly rare caboose taillight (out of my collection) off the back of an "art car" we built for Burning Man, we're pretty sure who it was but could never know for sure... guess we should have rigged a padlock for it, but we somehow thought it was safe there...

Hope they get the car back. Really hurts losing a treasured famly member to the light fingered crowd. And don't think thieves don't know what they have - there was the one who traded a pair of old cars for modern iron. They don't care what it is, as long as they can fence it off for bling.

With the left side shift it narrows it down quite a bit. Most non T people think there worth mega bucks little do they know. enclosed trailers are in demand because they can transport contraband and stolen goods in them. large Round trash cans are a target of thieves as well they can put stolen stuff in it and set them in the back of a pick up truck and no one is the wiser.
