The guys at Model T Haven sent me a spare tire carrier for my 1924 Roadster. I have searched in the Service Manual, Parts Catalog, and here for information on how it mounts to the rear cross member. Anyone have any better photos than shown on page 16 of the Service Manual? What is the type and length of the 8 mounting bolts that attach to the cross member and corner bracket? Do the bolts go through the full width of the cross member? There was an old bent carriage bolt about 3" long in one of the mounting holes when I received the carrier.

These may help. The fasteners are bolts and lock washers and hex nuts. About 1 1/4" or so in length. 3/8" dia. I think. Nuts on top of spare tire bracket onto the frame, bolts pushed in from under the frame.
Back in the early use, 1920, the brackets also were screwed to the rear wood sill crossmember, for extra support.

You have those split rim demountable, so tires are bigger, but still nice T!

Thanks again Dan. Just thought it looked like too much angle on the bracket. Took a year but finally found the mounting bracket.

Just in case someone else has questions regarding the bolt sizes, they are 5/16" x 1 1/4". 1" length will work.

The first voyage was about 200 yards. Brake and Clutch were too loose. Also, I forgot the small cotter pin on the throttle linkage, so after the first 150 yards, I no longer had control over the throttle. Lol. I am getting the kinks worked out. This is my first T and I am loving it.

I believe open & closed cars used different length support arms to position the spare correctly - I'll go dig out my parts books.

The parts book shows 2870B for the 22-25 Right Bracket, 2870C for the 25 Right Bracket for Balloon Rim Carrier.

Yours appears to be leaning too much rearward.

I thought that too. I am sure they varied with use. Here is the '22 bracket on my coupe, wet and dry. I'm not sure mine isn't bent also.

Mine rears back like that too but that's the way they are. It makes more sense on a Touring which curves back a bunch while yours angles forward.
