Firewall to windshield brackets

Good morning, I have a 1911 touring that has firewall to windshield brackets that are steel. There is light surface rust, and the firewall is weathered so it looks original.

Is this correct? From photos of restored cars, they all look brass. Were they originally brass plated?
Any info appreciated, Mike

Michael-
Yes. My original 1911 firewall to windshield brackets are brass plated steel.
Original brass plating is very poor on those brackets, their respective mounting hardware, and spark & Throttle rods.
Reproduction brackets are solid brass.

Thank you Keith, it's what I suspected. Do those small brush plating kits work well?

Lots of parts like that, screws / bolts included, were brass plated steel and for good reason. Keep what you've got. The solid brass reproductions of those are dimensionally incorrect.

I have these brackets in my stash and I don't know exactly what they fit (some early teens). These brackets are cast brass and they came out of an old collapsing barn with a brass windshield frame and the wood attached. From earlier comments they are most likely repros.

That windshield spacer board looks like the type used in 1909.
