Waaahoo, got my TT title and plate today..... (now with a pict)

Post by Corvette Guy » Thu Jul 23, 2020 11:19 pm

It's been a long ordeal, I bought my TT with a bill of sale and I ended up needing a court order to get a title. I had to submit all my paperwork, photos, details on the truck's history, police inspection and such to the local court and the judge ordered the DMV to issue a title in my name. Pretty cool, so then once I got the court order I had to submit all the paperwork to the DMV not once but THREE times.
1. They kicked back the original paperwork as I didn't have a VIN number on the police inspection paperwork since it was listed under the motor. I had it reinspected and sent back in.
2. They kicked it back as I put down NA on the mileage. Seems it had to read "exempt". Again I had to correct it and resubmit it.

Monday, I noticed that the DMV cashed my check and I checked online and found that my title was ready so I took the day off to get my plate. It was pretty easy and the DMV girls thought the truck was pretty cool. Plates were $110 and insurance was $75 for 6 months.

Now that I'm legal, I fired it up after about 8 cranks (ugh) and ran i up and down the road. It was kind of running rough and I thought that it was missing. I adjusted the timing, no help and adjusted the carb and it smoothed out.

The wife paced me down the road at a whooping 20 MPH. I'm going to challenge Dallas and his neighbor to a race.

The Amish are taking bets and might have to add a few horses of their own in this race! Gambling, Racing, and Model T's are very addictive, but Dallas still does not believe me!

I want pictures of the results and I promise not turn them over to law enforcement!

We do have a new product in dim dar hills that does not meet the criteria for hand sanitizer but knocks the carbon out of your tail pipe like an afterburner. Anyone interested to add to the point spread?

I don't know how fast Dallas's 35 year old horse can run, but it sure can break a gate.

I got the windshield mounted over the last few days and found that I need some engineering changes.
1. I can't open the hood all the way.
2. The windshield it too tall and you can't see over the hood.

Design changes in the works for today.

We're kinda lucky here in Ohio, 'bout the only thing they "do right" here is it is pretty straightforwardly simple to get a title even with "just" a B.O.S.! Wonder how long that'll last. But I've heard more than once, that getting almost ANY vintage title in IN is like pulling teeth without novocaine. I suspect as for the hood, you'll need some sort of hood former to get it out in front of that trim under the windshield.

Ya, the trim is the problem, but it hides the transition from the tongue and grove to the windshield frame. I'll have to come up with plan "B". It's 51" from the floor to the top of the windshield and I Dallas's is 53" so I don't want to go much shorter. I just need to move the windshield down about 4" and fill in the top with some trim, I think. I don't think it's really even a windshield for a TT but it came with the truck, so I'm using it.

Some had an inside metal strap from top to bottom for this support. Just trying to help with ideas.

Why do you even need a windshield at 20 MPH?

Congrats on getting your title. When I did mine here in CA I didn't even have a Bill of Sale. It had been my grandfathers truck, then my uncle had it and I got it from my uncle in about 2002. It hadn't been licensed since 1941. I was able to use a "Statement of Facts" to satisfy DMV.

As to the impending race. The only thing wrong is that I'm too far away!

I'm not so scared of the dogs and wife, it's the 2000 pound WWE body slamming horse I'm afraid of.

The fun part is that this is a practice run, once I get this one sorted out I get to work on the 24 which doesn't run but has a starter. That is assuming I get the title work sorted out on it. I should be an expert at it by now.
