Best way to remove drum rivets?

I aim to replace my broken low drum with a new one from Dave Nolting. I will need to send him a gear from an old drum. What is the best way to remove the rivets without damaging the hub? I think I know, but maybe somebody has a better procedure than I have in mind.

Steve,
I drilled them out and used a drift to gently tap them out.

I think he might have a fixture for removing them. Call and ask if it would cost any more to have him remove it.

I think Adam is right. I know that back when Herman Harder was making the drums, he told me that when sending him an original gear, if the drum it was coming off of was worn out or broken, to just take a heavy hammer and break the cast iron away from the gear, leaving the rivets in place, and then send it on in.

I drill them from the countersunk side with a drill somewhat smaller than the rivet stem. I don't go all the way through. then a pin punch will do the rest. The almost cut through countersunk will break off as the rivet stem is driven out.

I just bust the old drum off with a hammer.
