I replaced the switch wire harness on my 21 Touring 2 years ago and the terminals on the wire were to big that attach to the switch plate back. They worked but it bugs me to the point of replacing it.
Anybody know if that’s been changed since then from the vendors.
Thanks

Was the "switch plate back" a repro ? They use smaller then stock Ford screws.

I had difficulty with the repop switch loom for open cars years ago. They were selling the sedan looms for open cars, which are way too long for the job. My feeling is to do the research, and make stuff correctly in the first place. Some of the repop switch backs made were horrible. I know the ones I used to sell were made correctly. As far as the looms go, I had mine custom made by a reputable company. It cost me three times the amount of the repops, and my guy even wove in the original Ford tags. You get what you pay for.

I am with Larry one this one. Can not understand why when most of the cars being restored were the open type, they would copy the longer sedan type not the more common open car. I have two of them like that. That's a lot of extra loom hanging under the cowl. I would have to look but don't recall having issues with the terminals being to big or if they were didn't gave it a 2ed thought. Once I installed star washers, they seemed ok.

The switch Back is an original pin type and not repo. The first harness I bought a few years ago had the correct eyes for the screws.
The last harness I bought had eyes that were almost big enough that the original screw heads would almost go through it. I should have called the supplier about it but I didnt.
It works but I had to push the eyes to the side when installing it so the eyes would not short out against another one.
That’s to big folks!
The older harness worked just right as the screws would just go through the eyes.

I’m going to call Lang’s Monday to see if the individual harnesss they sell is made by the same company that they use for their ‘original’ style sets.

Most of the new repros have smaller metric screws with smaller heads.

I re-tap them to the American size, but finding screws of the correct length is impossible.

So screws have to be trimmed enough to allow the switch contacts to fit the depressions.
